FUNDS SPENT ON DUI ENFORCEMENT IN UTAH FOR 2012
According to the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, in 2012, $5,308,900 of Utah’s beer tax funds went to support DUI enforcement. The funds were granted to Utah municipalities and counties to be spent in one or more of six general categories: (1) DUI law enforcement, (2) general alcohol-related law enforcement, (3) prosecution/court costs for alcohol-related cases, (4) treatment of alcohol problems, (5) alcohol-related education/prevention, and (6) confinement of alcohol law offenders.
DUI ARRESTS IN UTAH FOR 2012
According to the annual DUI Report, there were 13,031 DUI arrests in Utah during 2012, 785 fewer than in the previous year. Out of those drivers that were arrested, the average Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) was .14; the highest was .39, nearly five times the legal limit.
